Rivers United have officially parted ways with head coach Evans Ogenyi following the expiration of his contract. The experienced tactician was brought into the technical crew during the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Ogenyi, who previously guided Kano Pillars back to the NPFL in 2023, leaves the Port Harcourt-based club after a short but eventful stint. His coaching résumé includes key roles at top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba International, Nasarawa United, and Lobi Stars.

it will be recalled he was head coach of Lobi Stars when they were nominated as Nigerian champions in 2018.

The Pride of Rivers led by head coach, Finidi George finished second last season behind eventual champions, Remo Stars. 

Rivers United, former NPFL champions, are expected to announce a new Chief coach ahead of their campaign in the 2025/26 CAF Champions league preliminary round.
