Team FCT commences quest for 2024 National Sports Festival qualification
Team FCT has departed for Jos, Plateau State, for the zonal qualifiers of the Ogun 2024 National Sports Festival, determined to secure their place in the finals.
Speaking to members of the FCT chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Monday, FCT Director of Sports, Luka Istifanus, confirmed that the territory will compete in men's football, male and female basketball, male and female handball, female cricket, male and female beach volleyball, and male and female abula.
"The federations have sent us the number of teams expected—football (6), handball (14), volleyball (12), basketball (12), abula (6 male, 6 female), and beach volleyball (2 male, 2 female)," he stated. "Coaches might adjust numbers due to injuries, technicalities, and substitutions, but each sport will have two coaches."
With the qualifiers now underway in Jos, Team FCT has vowed to compete fiercely and secure qualification for the Ogun 2024 National Sports Festival finals.
At the last Sports Festival, FCT finished ninth with 15 gold medels of Edo 2022 in Benin City and now aiming to surpass the feat this time.
