Tyson Fury eyes Anthony Joshua's showdown

Tyson Fury is already looking beyond his comeback fight this weekend, boldly naming Anthony Joshua as his next target provided he gets past Arslanbek Makhmudov in London.

The 37 year old former heavyweight champion is stepping back into the ring yet again, marking another chapter in his rollercoaster career. But despite the immediate task at hand, Fury made it clear where his focus could shift next if all goes to plan.

“I’ve got Arslanbek Makhmudov to think of on Saturday night, but all going well (Joshua is) the fight I want next,” he told BBC radio on Wednesday.

“I know he just had his fight with Jake Paul, whatever a fight’s a fight, really. So yeah, I’ll be ready for that straight away after this.”

Joshua, 36, has been active in recent months, most notably delivering a brutal sixth-round knockout victory over Paul in December.

However, his momentum was briefly overshadowed by a personal tragedy, as he was hospitalized in Nigeria following a car accident that claimed the lives of two close friends.

Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder has also thrown his name into the mix, calling out Joshua after edging Derek Chisora by split decision last weekend. Fury, however, showed little interest in that potential matchup and did not hold back in his assessment of their bout.

“I’ve never seen two men slide as much as these two,” he said of the Wilder v Chisora bout. “They look like a couple of club fighters from a white collar match in a local leisure centre. It was sad for me to watch.”

Having not fought since his 2024 defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, Fury now returns with both ambition and sharp words setting the stage for what could finally be the long-anticipated clash with Joshua if he handles business on Saturday night.
