Asisat Oshoala scores late as Al-Ula last gasp equaliser denies Al Hilal

Asisat Oshoala’s stoppage-time heroics were ultimately not enough as Al Hilal were held to a dramatic 1–1 draw by Al Ula in the Saudi Women’s Premier League on Friday.

In a tightly contested encounter that seemed destined for a narrow finish, the six-time African Player of the Year rose to the moment deep into added time. Oshoala fired home in the 90+1 minute, breaking the deadlock and putting Al Hilal on the brink of a crucial victory.

But just as the celebrations began, Al Ula produced a stunning response. Selma Kapetanovic struck in the 90+7 minute, snatching a point in the dying seconds and silencing the home side in heartbreaking fashion.

Despite the late disappointment, Oshoala’s impact continues to shine. The Nigerian forward now boasts 10 league goals and three assists in 13 appearances, while her overall tally stands at an impressive 17 goals and four assists across all competitions this season.

The result leaves Al Hilal fifth on the table with 20 points as the campaign edges towards its conclusion. They will wrap up their league season against Eastern Flames on April 23, before shifting focus to a Saudi Women’s Cup semi-final showdown against Al Qadsiah.
