Dannaz Ladies run riot in eight-goal thriller to headline NWFL Premiership Matchday 14

Matchday 14 of the NWFL Premiership served up a thrilling mix of late drama, high-scoring encounters, and shifting fortunes across both groups, as the race for Super Six spots and top positions intensified.

In Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons left it late but made it count. A composed penalty from Jumoke Alani deep into the game sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies at the Lafia City Stadium. The result not only propelled the Amazons back into the top three but also dealt a major setback to Remo’s fading Super Six ambitions.

Lagos witnessed one of the standout games of the round, as Dannaz Ladies and Delta Queens produced an eight-goal spectacle at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Dannaz raced into control after an early own goal and a quick follow-up from Zainab Raji. Although Delta fought back through Destiny Itobore, Ulumma Korie restored Dannaz’s advantage before halftime. The visitors stayed alive thanks to a brace from Oghenebrume Ikekhua, but Korie’s second of the game and a late finish from Solaty Fatimoh sealed an emphatic 5-3 win for the hosts.

League leaders FC Robo Queens saw their advantage trimmed after being held to a 1-1 draw by a resilient Ahudiyannem Queens side. Uduakobong Monday Peter handed the hosts an early lead, but Robo responded through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, whose seventh goal of the season ensured a share of the points. The draw narrows Robo’s lead at the top to just three points, while Ahudiyannem extended their impressive unbeaten run to five matches.

In Akure, Sunshine Queens marked a new era under head coach Tayo Onilude with a slender 1-0 win over Abia Angels, courtesy of an early strike from Aishat Adebowale. Osun Babes also claimed a 1-0 victory in Ile-Ogbo, with Precious Paul’s effort proving decisive against Confluence Queens.

Rivers Angels were in dominant form in Port Harcourt, cruising to a 3-0 win over Adamawa Queens. Taiwo Ajibade struck twice in the first half to set the tone before Grace Saliu added the third after the break. Bayelsa Queens matched that result in Yenagoa as Chiamaka Ezekwugo opened the scoring, Kindness Ifeanyi doubled the lead, and returning forward Chidi Harmony capped the performance with a third against Ibom Angels.

Elsewhere, Heartland Queens and Pacesetter Queens settled for a 1-1 draw in Owerri, with Faith Samson and Temitayo Aduamomi getting on the scoresheet for their respective sides. In Abuja, Ekiti Queens staged a comeback to defeat Naija Ratels 2-1, overturning Paulina Orshio’s opener through goals from Patience Yaro and Ismail Zaniab.
