Nigeria Police Force leads at One Service One Medal Games
Dorcas Eworo drew attention as Nigeria Police Force (NPF) finished as overall winners at the 6th One Service One Medal (OSOM) Games in Abuja. She won nine gold medals, helping the police team top the medal table.
The police team accumulated a total of 43 gold, 38 silver, and 34 bronze medals to claim the championship. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) followed closely with 30 gold, 24 silver, and 25 bronze medals. Nigeria Army finished third with 15 gold, 34 silver, and 31 bronze medals.
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, officially closed the event. He praised the organisation and noted that the games had gone beyond expectations, breaking some records.
Dikko said, "We saw athletes break both national and international records with our technical team present. They pushed their limits, and many achieved their personal bests." He added that with sustained support, these athletes could reach new heights within a year.
He also stated that the OSOM games are a symbol of unity, strength, determination, and excellence. “The games inspire us all to serve Nigeria better,” he said.
Dikko congratulated all medalists, calling them winners for representing their services. He urged those who secured medals to stay focused, as future opportunities await. "Your effort is commendable, and the next edition will be another chance to excel," he said.
The OSOM Games aim to strengthen ties among Nigeria’s Police, Military, and paramilitary agencies. The goal is to improve service through sport.
Twelve agencies took part in the six-day event. These included the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Army, DSS, EFCC, Fire Service, NIA, ICPC, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Nigeria Immigration Service.
