Falconets step up Poland 2026 chase ahead of Malawi clash
Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have returned to camp in Abuja as preparations gather pace for their decisive final-round qualifier against Malawi in the race to the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The first batch of invited players arrived on Monday, April 6, with training officially kicking off a day later. Since then, the camp has come alive with intense sessions focused on fitness, team chemistry, and tactical sharpness, as the coaching crew continues to expect the remaining players.
At the heart of it all is Head Coach Moses Aduku, who set the tone early, charging his players to stay focused and committed to the mission ahead. His message was clear discipline, teamwork, and determination will be non-negotiable as they prepare to face a resilient Malawian side.
Inside the camp, there’s a growing sense of belief. The players, buzzing with confidence, have embraced the challenge, while the technical team works behind the scenes to ensure the squad peaks at the right time.
Malawi booked their place in this final round after seeing off Guinea-Bissau, setting up what promises to be a tightly contested battle. The first leg is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 in Nigeria, with the return leg set for a week later in Malawi.
With only four African slots available for the tournament in Poland set to run from September 5 to 26, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
