Inter Lagos seal historic NPFL promotion
Inter Lagos have officially booked their place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), holding Smart City FC to a 1-1 draw in a high-stakes encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Knowing that a single point would be enough to secure promotion, the Lagos-based side stepped onto the pitch with clarity and composure and delivered when it mattered most. The result was enough to confirm their place among Nigeria’s elite, capping off a defining moment in the club’s short but impressive journey.
The draw lifted Inter Lagos to 29 points from 15 matches, edging them just one point ahead of Beyond Limits in Group A of the Nigeria National League (NNL), and sealing one of the coveted promotion spots.
They become the second side to earn promotion this season, joining Doma United, who dominated Group C with 26 points, finishing comfortably ahead of Lobi Stars.
For Inter Lagos, this achievement is more than just promotion it’s a statement. Founded only three years ago, the club has risen steadily through the ranks, blending ambition with results. Their 2025 Lagos State FA Cup triumph, where they stunned NPFL side Ikorodu City in the final, was an early signal of their intent.
Now, with top-flight football secured, Inter Lagos step into a new chapter one that will test their growth, ambition, and readiness to compete at the highest level of Nigerian football.
