NLO COO Ogunnowo backs Gusau for second term, praises NFF leadership and reforms

Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO), Shola Ogunnowo, has endorsed the second-term re-election bid of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, describing his leadership as visionary, progressive, and deserving of continuity.

Ogunnowo made his position known on Friday during a WhatsApp interview on the popular Sports World Platform, hosted by veteran sports journalist Sunday Agunbiade, popularly known as Mr VAR, alongside co-host Afonne Chukwuemeka.

Speaking during the interactive session, Ogunnowo commended the Gusau-led NFF administration for introducing reforms that have strengthened the country's football structure. He highlighted the federation's efforts in grassroots football development, improved league administration, youth football momentum requires continuity, and enhanced collaboration with key stakeholders across the football ecosystem.

According to him, sustaining the current momentum requires continuity in leadership, insisting that Gusau has laid a solid foundation for the long-term growth of Nigerian football.

"I believe Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau deserves another term to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far. The progress being witnessed across different sectors of Nigerian football should not be interrupted. The impressive accommodation facility he built for the national team players is the first of its kind. Alhaji Gusau is a silent achiever who allows his work to speak for itself. With greater support from stakeholders, the federation can accomplish even more," Ogunnowo said.

He called on state football associations, clubs, football administrators, and other stakeholders nationwide to rally behind Gusau's re-election bid, stressing that a second term would provide the stability needed to complete ongoing reforms and implement long-term developmental programmes.

Beyond the endorsement, the interview also explored the rapid expansion of the Nigeria Nationwide League, the state of football administration, grassroots development initiatives, and the future of domestic football in Nigeria.

The session drew widespread participation from football enthusiasts and stakeholders across the country, with many applauding the hosts for creating a platform to discuss critical issues affecting Nigerian football while promoting ideas for the sport's continued growth.
