CAF dismisses Edo Queens' appeal over WAFU-B Qualifying final against Ampem Darkoa
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Board has dismissed Edo Queens’ appeal against the Organising Committee’s decision concerning their controversial WAFU Zone B qualifying final against Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
According to Ghana Media Hub, the Appeal Board confirmed the original ruling on Friday, October 16, 2026, following a hearing into the dispute arising from the match played on September 5, 2026.
Edo Queens had challenged the decision issued by the CAF Organising Committee on September 26, seeking a review of the ruling.
However, in its latest decision, the Appeal Board affirmed that the Organising Committee had the authority to consider the protest and issue its original verdict.
The Board also ruled that any procedural irregularity at the initial stage had been addressed during the appeal proceedings by allowing both clubs to present their respective cases.
Following its review, the Appeal Board upheld the September 26 decision, subject to an amendment relating to the match officials.
It also dismissed all other claims and requests for relief submitted by Edo Queens, leaving the original ruling largely unchanged.
The decision was signed by Appeal Board Vice-Chairperson Faustino Varela Monteiro, who also presided over the hearing on October 16.
The ruling brings another development in the dispute surrounding the WAFU Zone B qualifying final between the Nigerian and Ghanaian clubs.
