Poland 2026 Qualifiers: Falconets clash with Senegal moved to Abeokuta

The Nigeria U20 women’s team, Falconets, will now host Senegal at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, following a change of venue approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup third-round qualifying fixture.

The first-leg encounter is scheduled for Saturday, 7 February 2026.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the development through its Director of Competitions, Ruth David, who disclosed that the request for a venue change was necessitated by the deteriorating condition of the pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, which had earlier been approved for the match.

The Ibadan venue previously hosted the Falconets’ second-round, second-leg clash against Rwanda in September last year, but concerns over the playing surface prompted the federation to seek an alternative.

Following the approval, the two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup silver medallists, who have been camping in Ibadan, are expected to relocate to Abeokuta in the coming days to acclimatise to the MKO Abiola Sports Complex turf ahead of the crucial tie.

The Falconets booked their place in the third round with a dominant 5–0 aggregate victory over Rwanda. The winner of the Nigeria–Senegal tie will advance to the final round of the African qualification series, where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi for a ticket to the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to hold in Poland from 5 to 27 September 2026.
