Rashford Thanks Barcelona After Brace Seals Champions League Win at Newcastle

Marcus Rashford says his move to Barcelona is making him a “better player” after scoring twice in the club’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Newcastle on Thursday night.

The 27-year-old Manchester United loanee headed in the opener before firing home a stunning long-range winner at St James’ Park, with England manager Thomas Tuchel watching on. His two goals already equal United’s total against Premier League opposition this season.

“I’m learning a lot. It’s a new style of football, but it’s making me a better player,” Rashford told TNT Sports. “I’ve always admired Barcelona. To now be part of this football is incredible.”

The forward credited Barca coach Hansi Flick for restoring his confidence and backed the Spanish side to challenge for the Champions League title.

Barcelona have a £26m option to buy Rashford permanently next summer. On a possible long-term stay, he said: “As many [seasons] as possible. We will see. My focus now is to do my job and help the team.”
