Sani Kaita eyes Golden Eaglets job

Former Super Eagles midfielder Sani Kaita has stepped forward with a bold vision for Nigeria’s youth football, formally applying for the vacant Golden Eaglets head coach position as the Nigeria Football Federation opens its doors to fresh leadership across its junior national teams.

Rather than viewing the opportunity as just another coaching vacancy announced by the Nigeria Football Federation, Kaita sees it as a mission to shape the next generation of stars.

The 38 year old, now based in the United Kingdom, believes his blend of elite playing experience and hands on youth development work positions him strongly to lead the country’s U-17 side into a new era.

Kaita’s journey through European football with stints at Sparta Rotterdam and AS Monaco, as well as spells in Russia and Greece gave him exposure to different tactical systems and competitive cultures.

On the international stage, he proudly represented Nigeria at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, adding to his pedigree as a former youth standout who won silver medals at both the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Beijing Olympics.

Now armed with a UEFA B License issued by the Football Association of Wales and actively involved in grassroots coaching in the UK, Kaita has been refining his philosophy at Hellenic FC, focusing heavily on structured player development.

His transition from midfield enforcer to mentor, he insists, has been deliberate and rooted in long-term impact.Confirming his application, Kaita expressed confidence in his readiness for the challenge.

He pledged to build a disciplined, dynamic and competitive Golden Eaglets squad capable of restoring national pride, emphasizing that his recent years have been dedicated to nurturing young talents in a positive, high-performance environment.
