Senator Akpabio Leads Nigerian Delegation to Greece for High-Level IPU Meeting

President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has arrived in Andravida, Greece, for the Executive Committee meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), a global platform for parliamentary diplomacy and legislative cooperation.

Akpabio touched down in the historic town located in the northwestern Peloponnese region on Friday, leading a Nigerian delegation comprising Senators Asuquo Ekpenyong, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and Titus Zam — all members of the Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs.

The Senate President was warmly received by Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, a prominent Member of the Hellenic Parliament and Chair of the Greek Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection. Known for her influence in environmental and climate law across the Mediterranean, Dr. Avgerinopoulou welcomed the Nigerian team as discussions gear up on pressing global challenges.

Also present to receive the delegation was Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires in Athens, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode.

The IPU meeting is expected to address key international legislative priorities, including climate governance, peacebuilding, and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
