Spain Defeat Nigeria in FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup opener
Nigeria’s Falconets suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening Group F match at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Spain made a fast start and took the lead in the 13th minute through Marisa, leaving Nigeria trailing 1-0 at the break.
The Spaniards doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute when Alba Cerrato found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Nigeria were unable to find a response as Spain held on to claim all three points and open their campaign with a victory.
The Falconets will now turn their attention to their second group-stage fixture against China, where they will look to bounce back and revive their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage.
