Super Eagles shine across Europe as Osimhen, Onuachu and Arokodare deliver

Nigeria’s Super Eagles stars lit up the European scene once again over the weekend, with Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare all finding the scoresheet in eye-catching performances for their respective clubs in Turkey and England.

Paul Onuachu was the standout performer in the Turkish Super Lig, firing a brace as Trabzonspor cruised to a dominant 3–0 win over Samsunspor. The towering striker broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, soaring above his marker to glance home a powerful header. He appeared to have doubled his tally early in the second half, but VAR ruled out the effort.

Unmoved by the setback, Onuachu stayed focused and was rewarded in the 81st minute, calmly converting from close range to complete his brace. The performance further underlined his growing influence in Trabzonspor’s attack and extended his impressive scoring run this season.

Victor Osimhen was also among the goals as Galatasaray eased past Çaykur Rizespor with a 3–0 victory. With his side already in control, the Super Eagles forward put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute, cleverly rounding the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net from a tight angle. The strike marked his 15th goal of the season and reinforced his status as one of the league’s most lethal forwards.

Despite picking up a late first-half yellow card, Osimhen completed the full match and maintained his remarkable scoring consistency across all competitions.

In England, Tolu Arokodare provided a rare bright spark for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Premier League clash against Chelsea. Although Wolves fell to a 3–1 defeat, the Nigerian forward pulled one back in the 54th minute following a well-worked attacking move. The goal ended a long personal drought and served as a timely reminder of his threat in the final third.

All told, it was a rewarding weekend for Nigerian football, as Super Eagles stars once again showcased their quality and impact across Europe’s top leagues.
