On the first day of the Handball events at the National Sports Festival 2025, taking place in Ogun State, teams from Lagos and Niger States achieved significant victories. 

Team Niger managed to secure a narrow win against a well-prepared Team Kano, finishing the match with a score of 25-24 at the Alake Sports Center, despite facing challenges such as turnovers and missed opportunities. 

Similarly, Team Lagos triumphed over Team Sokoto with an identical score of 25-24, overcoming a formidable opponent. 

Additionally, Team Edo was awarded a 10-0 victory after Team Enugu failed to arrive on time for their match. 

Before the matches, a moment of silence was observed in honor of the late Coach Sylvanus Audu of Kano State, who passed away the previous week due to a brief illness.
