AACT 2026: Peter Deshi assures golfers of special experience at IBB Golf Club as countdown hits 15 days

With 15 days to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, Peter Deshi, has assured participating golfers and visitors of a special experience at the venue.

Deshi highlighted the readiness of the golf course and the improvements made to the club’s facilities ahead of the continental women’s golf championship, which will bring together players from across Africa.

He said preparations were focused on providing suitable playing conditions for the participating countries while showcasing the club’s renewed facilities and distinctive character.

The IBB International Golf and Country Club has undergone renovation and improvement work following an extended period of closure to golf. The upgrades are intended to restore the venue and ensure it is ready to host the continental competition.

For Deshi, the championship represents an opportunity to showcase the improved course and facilities while offering players and visitors an opportunity to experience one of Nigeria’s prominent golfing venues.

Located in Abuja, the club previously hosted the All Africa Challenge Trophy in 2010. Its selection for the 2026 edition places it at the centre of Nigeria’s preparations to welcome Africa’s leading women golfers once again.

Beyond the competition, the tournament is expected to provide an opportunity to showcase Abuja’s hospitality and tourism potential, bringing together players, officials and visitors for a week of sporting action and cultural exchange.

Nigeria will host the AACT for the third time, following the 1996 edition at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos and the 2010 championship at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

The 2026 tournament is scheduled to hold from November 2 to 7 at the Abuja venue.

As preparations enter the final stretch, organisers are focused on delivering a championship that celebrates women’s golf, strengthens connections among African nations and highlights Nigeria’s capacity to host international sporting events.

With just 15 days remaining, anticipation is building as Abuja prepares to welcome the continent for a celebration of golf and African unity.
