Nigeria, The Gambia deepen Public Service ties through strategic Civil Service exchange
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) is set to host the Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service of the Republic of The Gambia, Alieu Njie, and his delegation on a strategic study visit to Nigeria from June 20 to 24, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the OHCSF, Eno Olotu, the visit is designed to strengthen collaboration between the Nigerian and Gambian Civil Services through peer learning, the exchange of reform experiences, and practical discussions aimed at building more efficient, professional, and citizen-focused public institutions.
The statement noted that the engagement will provide a platform for both countries to share insights on public service reforms, strategies for improving service delivery, institutional capacity development, performance management, digital governance, and the deployment of technology to enhance government operations.
As part of the programme, the Gambian delegation will hold discussions with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and interact with selected Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as key public service institutions.
The study visit underscores the shared commitment of Nigeria and The Gambia to advancing effective public administration through cooperation, knowledge sharing, and practical learning. It also highlights the growing importance of African nations leveraging one another’s reform experiences to strengthen governance systems and improve service delivery for citizens across the continent.
