The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has entered into a formal partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to strengthen the fight against corruption in the administration of the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (DBS).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Abuja by PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, and ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, outlines a framework for collaboration in monitoring, investigating, and preventing corrupt practices in the pension system.
Mrs. Odunaiya described the agreement as a milestone in pension administration.
“The MoU reflects our shared determination to combat corruption within the DBS, uphold integrity, and advance transparency and accountability. By leveraging our combined strengths, we can significantly enhance our capacity to prevent, detect, and prosecute corruption-related offenses,” she said.
She added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at delivering good governance and protecting pensioners’ welfare.
Dr. Aliyu, on his part, commended PTAD’s leadership and commitment, noting that the synergy would boost efforts to rid the pension sector of fraud.
“By combining PTAD’s robust, increasingly digitised database with ICPC’s investigative and prosecutorial powers, we are creating a seamless and powerful force,” he stressed.
The partnership underscores the commitment of both agencies to transparency, accountability, and the protection of pensioners’ rights across the country.
